Cancer Massage Therapy Course (Oncology Massage) (CMA Accredited) - ONLINE

This Cancer Massage therapy online course (Oncology Massage course) is open to any individuals who have previous training in Body Massage or higher

It is open to practising massage therapists as well as Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors and Sports Science practitioners.

This online course is accredited by the CMA, if you would like to receive accreditation from Think Tree and CTHA you will need to complete 1 additional day at the school.

We are currently offering this online course for students wanting to carry on their learning during the Covid-19 restrictions. Lectures will be taught through Zoom, we ask that students signing up have access to laptop/computer with webcam and internet connection. Student will also need 1 peach, 1 plum, 1 lemon and 1 lime for practical touch demonstrations.

 

 

 About this Cancer Massage Therapy Course ...


This course in Cancer Massage Therapy (Oncology Massage) aims to help qualified practitioners to work safely and effectively with clients with cancer, both as part as a programme for aiding recovery as well as palliative care.

The course will include a good understanding of cancer, its main causes as well as current allopathic treatment as well as the psychological effects of living cancer

The practical elements of this Cancer Massage Therapy course will cover the "do's and don'ts" for massage therapists, consultation, contraindications as well as how to adapt massage therapy so as to be able to deliver a safe and effective cancer massage treatment.

 What will I learn in this Cancer Massage Therapy Course ...


This Cancer Massage Therapy course will systematically guide the student through the theory and practice of Cancer Massage therapy.  It will allow the smooth and effective integration of previously gained knowledge in the application of massage as part of Cancer care.  

The course will aim to provide clear guidelines and leave massage and body therapists confident on how to treat clients with cancer safely and effectively.

This Cancer Massage Therapy course will include the theory and clinical application and cover the following topics:

  • Overview of cancer
  • Main causes and types of cancer
  • Basics pathophysiology of cancer and its metastasis
  • Common allopathic treatments for cancer
  • Side effects of allopathic cancer treatment
  • Consultation guidelines for people with a history of cancer
  • The benefits of massage for those affected by cancer
  • How to safely carry out massage for those living with or have suffered from cance
  • Positioning of the client and therapist
  • Emotional aspects - therapist and client
  • Contraindication for treatment and guidelines for safe and effective practice. 

Cancer Massage Therapy Course Prerequisites ...

 

Students must hold an Ofqual accredited Level 3 Diploma in Massage including Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology - or equivalent, or higher. 

 

Without an accredited Diploma, you may be able to attend the course, but you will not receive an CThA or  IICT accredited certificate. This may affect your ability to obtain professional insurance.

 

Without an accredited Diploma you may not also be able to join the CThA, IICT, or other professional body.

 

When submitting your Student Details form, you must also supply us with copies of your existing accredited qualifications to receive the course certificate. Please note that your Diploma will NOT be issued until this has been submitted.
Supplying this information too late may result in your certificate being printed without the CThA and IICT logos. Additional charges may be incurred to print the correct certificate. 

 



What does accredited mean?

Accredited qualifications are those that are reviewed, recognised and monitored by regulatory bodies in order to make sure that they meet specific criteria and quality standards.

Overseas Qualifications

If you have arrived in the UK from overseas and have existing qualifications, those qualifications may meet an acceptable standard in the UK. NARIC can provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to UK qualifications with a document called a ‘Statement of Comparability’.

You can also request an 'English Language Assessment' document, which may help determine your current level of English.
