This massage diploma course will get you started in your massage career. This will be your professional entry level to continue studying more complimentary massage based therapies.
You will study Anatomy and Physiology to a level 3 qualification as well as massage. Human Anatomy and Physiology is the study of human beings - the structure of our bodies and how they work. This study can often be used to provide exemption from the Anatomy and Physiology elements of future courses.
Level 3 massage will qualify you to professionally give Holisitc / Swedish style massage. Including the use of oils and client care. Upon completion you will be able to call yourself A Holisitc Massage Therapist and gain practitioners insurance, taking advantage of many job opportunits or moving on to our many other CPD and VTCT (ITEC) certified courses.
We are currently offering the Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology element via online lectures.
If you have decided to take the online training option, the structure will be as follows:
Part 1) Lectures via Zoom covering the Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology element.
Part 2) Practical lectures at the school will include the demonstration and application of different massage techniques, incorporated into a 45 minute treatment. 5 days.
*Note* You can opt to just take the Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology as a stand alone qualification. You would need to complete the same dates and online lectures, work through the workbooks & quizzes provided - once you feel ready, then you are able to take your final exam online via the ITEC student portal. What will I learn in this VTCT (ITEC) Massage Course ... The massage course will cover the full VTCT (ITEC) level 3 QCF syllabus through formal lectures, practical classes and home assignments. Some of the topics covered in this course are:
Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology
Anatomy and Physiology are the study of the body structures and how they work.
The course will cover all the major systems of the body including:
Cells, tissues and skin
Muscles and bones
Respiratory and Circulatory systems
Nervous and Endocrine systems
Gastrointestinal and Reproductive systems
Each topic will be followed up by the learning of some of the common pathologies (diseases) which affect that system.
Massage Theory & Practice
From aspects of touch right through to use of major massage strokes, benefits and contraindications. Some of the topics covered in this section include:
The principles of Holistic Therapeutic Body Massage
Supervised hands on approach to teaching practical massage skills
Guidance & demonstrations on a sequenced massage routine lasting one full hour
The benefits of massage and its contraindications
Development of a holistic approach - treating the 'mind, body and spirit'.
The proper application of massage techniques and use of proper body posture
Use of different massage mediums
Setting Up in Business
Taking a no non-sense approach to setting up in business, this section will provide the important starting tools that you will need to set up your own practice.
Some of the topics covered will include:
Forms of Marketing and how to get yourself noticed
UK Business Laws relevant to sound practice
Professionalism & Ethics
Concepts and practice of of hygiene
Health & Safety related to clinical practice
VTCT (ITEC) Massage Course Prerequisites ...
There are no formal prerequisites required for the study of this massage course, just an interest in Massage Therapy, the human body, the want to benefit others as well as a desire to embark on a new profession and career.
The course will involve some computer work and students are requested to have access to a PC or laptop.

1. FAST TRACK INTENSIVE - You have to attend the school for ALL lectures & practical sessions.

2. WEEKEND FAST TRACK INTENSIVE - You have to attend the school for ALL lectures & practical sessions. Please refer to the current course timetable for details.
3. MIXED MODE FAST TRACK - ALL Anatomy & Physiology theory is done at home via guided learning and you only attend the school for the practical massage lectures (which will include revision of some Anatomy & Physiology). Please refer to the current course timetable for details.
For all three modes, the syllabus and exams for the ITEC massage courses are exactly the same.
On completion of the ITEC Massage course (Level 3) you can opt to continue with the BTEC Professional Therapeutic Massage Diploma (Level 5).

Assessment Information
The Exams will include:
1 Final Multiple Choice Paper - Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology
A practical examination lasting 1 hour.
These are both externally assessed by VTCT (ITEC) and take places around 4-5 weeks after the last day of your course.
Your Home Assignments will include:
A total of 36 Case Study : 8 completed case studies (with minimum of 2 treatments each) + 20 further Massage treatments
1 Business Practice Assignment
1 Holistic Therapies Assignment
Home study - leave ample time to do work at home.

VTCT (ITEC) is a leading international specialist examination board, providing quality qualifications in Complementary Therapies, Sports & Fitness Training.It is approved as an Awarding Organisation (AO) in the UK. As such all RQF qualifications are approved on the Regulated Qualifications Framework.
VTCT (ITEC) Body Massage courses are recognised by major insurance companies and practitioner insurance is available upon successful completion of this aromatherapy course.
Successful completion of this diploma course will provide you with the title of "Massage Therapist", and the knowledge and techniques needed to give a professional treatment.
This course is ELCAS approved and those elegible can apply via the ELC scheme using provider nymber 11265.
The CNHC is the UK voluntary regulator for complementary healthcare practitioners that was set up with government support to protect the public by providing a UK voluntary register of complementary therapists. CHNC's register has been approved as an Accredited Register by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. This means CNHC has met the Professional Standards Authority's demanding standards.
The GCMT is the governing body for massage and soft tissue therapies that form all bodyworks and soft tissue techniques in the UK. We are a non-profit making body with the following aims and objectives.
It aims to:
- To define and influence educational standards in the field of soft tissue therapies.
- To act as a lobbying and pressure group in the areas of, education, regulation, insurance and employment.
- To cooperate collectively (e.g on commercial deals) for the benefit of our respective memberships.
- To share best practice and experience as PAs.
- To bring together, and initiate, research into soft tissue therapy.
