Frequently Asked Questions:

Advanced Therapeutic Massage Diploma Course London

What is an Advanced Therapeutic Massage?

Advanced Therapeutic Massage is a results-focused style of massage that builds on foundational body massage skills to work more specifically with muscle tension, aches and restricted movement. Therapeutic massage is generally defined as soft-tissue manipulation aimed at both general improvements (like relaxation) and specific physical benefits (such as easing muscular aches and pains).

At the London School of Massage, Advanced Therapeutic Massage is taught as a fast-track, intensive 5-day course.

The course also includes e-course materials, and successful completion awards the title “Advanced Therapeutic Massage Therapist.”

To enrol, you need to be a qualified massage therapist with:

  • A qualification in Anatomy, Physiology and Massage.
  • An OFQUAL-accredited Level 3 Diploma in Massage (or equivalent)

A “regular” massage is often booked mainly for relaxation and general wellbeing, typically using flowing, full-body techniques. A therapeutic massage is more goal-led and targeted—the therapist assesses and focuses work on specific problem areas (for example, persistent tightness or restricted movement) and may use more specific soft-tissue techniques to support comfort and function.
