Emergency First Aid at Work, also known as EFAW, is a practical first aid training course designed to give students the essential lifesaving skills and confidence to respond to accidents, injuries and medical emergencies in the workplace. This Emergency First Aid at Work course is delivered in line with Health and Safety Executive guidance and is suitable for therapists, workplace staff, employers and anyone who needs recognised first aid training.

The course combines theory, practical learning and assessment to help students understand the role of the first aider, how to manage an emergency situation and how to provide safe, effective first aid until professional medical help arrives. Successful candidates receive a certificate valid for three years.

 

During the course, you will learn:


  • The role and responsibilities of an emergency first aider in the workplace
  • Basic workplace health and safety regulations relating to first aid
  • How to communicate effectively with a casualty and bystanders during an emergency

There are no formal exams for this Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course.

In-class assessment and instructor feedback - ongoing evaluation of practical skills with real-time feedback to support learning and development. A CPD Certificate will be given if the instructor believes the required competencies have been met.
