In short, Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle, specialised massage technique that stimulates the lymphatic system to help reduce swelling, fluid retention and inflammation. It supports the body’s natural detoxification and immune function, promotes relaxation and aids recovery after injury or surgery. MLD is particularly beneficial for improving circulation, relieving feelings of heaviness and supporting overall wellbeing when performed by a trained professional.
In short, MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage) is a slow, gentle and therapeutic technique used for medical support, swelling reduction and lymphatic health, while BMLD (Brazilian Manual Lymphatic Drainage) is faster, firmer and more sculpting-focused, commonly used for cosmetic and body-contouring results. MLD prioritises safety and long-term lymphatic function, whereas BMLD aims for quicker visible changes and is not suitable for all medical conditions.
